Container

The
container
from Houston arrived before the team! It was cleared through customs in
record time and no problems whatsoever! Slava na Boga.

As Stani was
delivering more than one hundred school desks that had arrived on the
container,
he began having some difficulty with the truck. The bolts in the
floorboards of the truck bed were working loose. In some places, the
wooden boards were rotting. So, the truck had to go in for repairs only
a few days before a delivery team arrived. The carpenter finished the
work on the truck bed late Friday afternoon before the team arrived on
Saturday.

We had a great
week with this team from Williams Trace Baptist Church, Sugarland
(Houston area), Texas. We put these folks to work as soon as they landed
and didn't let them stop until the last evening they were here. This is
the first time we have had to ask a team to help as soon a they arrived,
but since our truck repairs were not finished until Friday late, we just
didn't have time - nor manpower- to get it completely loaded before the
arrival of the team. They were great sports and everyone pitched in,
loading desks, chairs, and boxes filled with backpacks,
English/Bulgarian books, diapers, quilts, clothes, toys and balls.

Children at the Health
school in Berkovitsa. |

We visited a
total of thirteen homes, ministering to over 1000 children. The kids,
directors, and workers at each of the homes are always happy to see our
truck arrive, but this time they were amazed by the generosity of the
folks at Williams Trace. The backpacks were awesome. Families in the
church had adopted one orphan and had filled a backpack specifically for
that child. The bags were filled with everything from watches and
jewelry to underwear and school supplies. The kids couldn't believe that
all those gifts could be lavished upon them so freely. A girl in one
home kept coming up to me and asking, "Are you sure all these things are
for Me?" She thought there had to be a mistake. I had to admit that I
was pretty amazed by it all, too! Over 200 backpacks were distributed.

The kids liked their backpacks. |

At every place
there was a great celebration over the items received. The preschool
directors were thrilled with the much needed chairs. They went on and on
about how stable and well made they were. I wish that you all could have
seen the little children as the riding toys were brought in! The Health
dept. has forced the destruction of all the toys in the preschool homes
of Georgi Damyanovo and Dren. G. Damyanovo was visited by health
authorities while we were there. We were forced to leave because the
home was being placed under quarantine for dysentery.

The container carried new
desks for many homes. |
|
The babies were
too little to care about the toys (one was only a week old), but they
sure did love to be held and rocked. The
container
held about 30 rocking chairs. There are no rocking chairs here, so these
were the wonder of all. The diapers were greatly appreciated too.

The container had a plastic
play-house for the home in Vidrare. |

At one orphanage
for babies, a few of the two and three year olds were playing outside
when I arrived. After I had cleared the way for the team, they began
walking up the drive to the orphanage. The children saw them and took
off running to meet them - arms extended upward waiting to picked up! It
was a great moment! It was not easy to leave when the time came go.
We didn't have
time to get quite everything delivered, but will get that done next week
by a team from FBC Cabot, Arkansas. They have lots of other events and
activities planned, too.
Thank you for
your prayers and your financial support.
